Chuck is usually installed on the internal grinder to use, the following by me to introduce the internal grinder chuck.


A machine tool accessory that uses the radial movement of the movable claw uniformly distributed on the chuck body to clamp and position the workpiece. The chuck is generally composed of chuck body, movable claw and claw driving mechanism. The minimum diameter of chuck body is 65 mm, and the maximum diameter is 1500 mm. There is a through hole in the center to pass through the workpiece or bar; the back has a cylindrical or short conical structure, which is directly connected with the spindle end of the machine tool or through a flange.

The chuck can be divided into manual chuck and power chuck according to the different power used to drive the chuck.


(1) Manual chuck: it is a universal accessory. There are three jaw chuck with automatic centering and four jaw chuck that can be moved independently by each claw.

① The three jaw chuck drives the big bevel gear by the small bevel gear. The back of the big bevel gear has Archimedes spiral groove, which is meshed with three claws. Therefore, turning the bevel gear with a wrench can make the three claws move along the radial direction at the same time, and realize automatic centering and clamping. It is suitable for holding the workpiece with circular, regular triangle or regular hexagon.

② The bottom surface of each claw of the four jaw chuck is connected with the screw rod by internal thread. Turning each screw rod with a wrench can make the connected claws move radially respectively, which is suitable for holding the workpiece with quadrilateral or asymmetric shape.


(2) Power chuck: it belongs to automatic centering chuck, which can be composed of pneumatic chuck, hydraulic chuck or electric chuck with different power devices (cylinder, oil cylinder or motor). The cylinder or oil cylinder is installed at the rear end of the machine tool spindle, and the wedge-shaped sleeve in the chuck body at the front end of the spindle is pushed and pulled by the pull rod or pull tube through the spindle hole. The axial advance and retreat of the wedge sleeve makes the three claws move radially at the same time. The chuck moves quickly and the jaw moves little, so it is suitable for mass production.
