Water contamination in the oil system is the cause of major maintenance and operation problems for key components in the lubrication and hydraulic circuits. From generating turbines to paper machines, these problems include:

Increased system corrosion, especially at bearing locations

Increase oil oxidation and acid accumulation

Our experience in this field has shown that free water removal is not enough: centrifuges and coalescers alone cannot protect bearings from corrosion and fluid degradation.

Free water and dissolved water

In a typical oil system, the temperature fluctuation constantly changes the dissolved water content of oil. At the reservoir location, not only free water but also most dissolved water should be removed. This is the only way to ensure that free water does not appear when the fluid passes through the cooling part of the system, especially when an oil cooler is used downstream of the tank.
