Industrial application and selection of drying equipment


Metal sulfide ores (pyrite, chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite, etc.) are important raw materials for sulfuric acid industry and metallurgical industry, and the concentrate after flotation (sulfur concentrate, copper concentrate, nickel concentrate, molybdenum concentrate and zinc concentrate, etc.) needs to be dried before entering into the subsequent roasting and smelting equipment. In China, with the construction of large pyrite roasting and non-ferrous metal smelting plant, it is urgent to improve the single processing capacity of concentrate drying equipment and to carry out deep drying of concentrate.


Industrial application and selection of drying equipment


Moist copper sulfide concentrates are generally grayish brown with a particle size of about 200 mesh (74 m). Because of the high metal content and the high heap density, the wear property of the equipment is strong. The W(H2O) of concentrate produced by flotation is generally 10% to 15%. When W(H2O) is about 10%, the concentrate is relatively loose. When W (H: O) is higher, the concentrate is more viscous. In addition, the sulfide in the concentrate tends to cause acid corrosion during heating.


The water content of the concentrate has a great influence on the smelting operation. The general smelting process requires that W(H: O) into the furnace concentrate is 6%-8%, and some requirements are even lower, such as flash furnace smelting requires that W(H: O) into the furnace copper concentrate is less than 0.3%. Too high water content will cause poor fluidity of concentrate, block hopper L2], and is not conducive to the smelting of non-ferrous metals. In addition, melting operation also has certain requirements on the particle size of concentrate after drying.
